Extension of the emergency payment scheme for relief teachers and casual staff
End of the emergency payment scheme
With the introduction of the COVID-19 Protection Framework and the ability for students to work on site, the emergency payment scheme will close for day relief teachers and casual employees who have been prevented from earning because of COVID-19.
The final payment for eligible casual non-teaching and day relief staff in secondary schools in Auckland was made on Tuesday 30 November 2021.
We expect the demand for relief teachers and casual non-teaching staff in secondary schools from Wednesday 1 December 2021 to the end of the secondary school year to be similar to the same period in previous years.
For eligible casual non-teaching staff and for day relievers working in primary schools, emergency payments will continue until Monday 20 December 2021 to recognise the ongoing variability in face-to-face learning taking place in primary settings.
Outside of the Auckland Region
Emergency payments for casual and day relief staff in all schools and kura outside of Auckland Support will also cease with effect from Wednesday 1 December 2021.
