Resources

Resources are provided as starting points for planning your teacher-only day.

Schools/clusters, kura and wharekura will be at different starting points for curriculum and assessment change. Select from the range of resources available based on your current understanding of changes and the stage of implementation you are at.

Guides and activities

Facilitation guides have been developed to support each of the suggested topics below.

Each guide contains tasks and questions to complete as a department, school or kura.

We encourage you to select topics and resources that are relevant to you and your community. You are not expected to cover all of the topics.

These resources can be used to facilitate sessions to build awareness and understanding of Te Mātaiaho – the refreshed New Zealand Curriculum – and invite feedback on the completed whole draft.

Each activity is supported by a slide deck.

Activities are designed to be used by groups but could be adapted for individual use.

NCEA resources

NCEA Activity Guides and corresponding resources are available from Teacher-Only Days (TOD) | NCEA website

The following activity guides are designed to help you facilitate sessions with your department, school or kura. When used together, the activity guides offer more than a full day of planning activities.

We encourage you to review them prior to the day and select only the activities that are relevant to the needs of your setting:

  • Activity Guide One: Using resources on NCEA website to support course planning for Level 1 NCEA.
  • Activity Guide Two: Inclusive approaches to strengthening vocabulary across all NCEA learning areas.
